If you’re searching for homes for sale in Windsor, California, there’s a good chance you’ll come across Vintana. Located on the west side of Windsor, Vintana is an established residential neighborhood known for its parks, walking paths, newer homes and convenient location.
As a Sonoma County native and local real estate agent, Vintana is one of those Windsor neighborhoods I think is worth knowing about—especially if you want a traditional neighborhood setting while still being close to everything that makes Windsor such an easy place to call home.
Where Is the Vintana Neighborhood in Windsor?
Vintana is located in west Windsor, near Windsor High School and adjacent to the Vintage Greens area.
The neighborhood was primarily developed in the early 2000s. Buyers will generally find homes that are newer than much of Windsor’s housing stock. Streets are residential and interconnected, with neighborhood parks and walking paths incorporated throughout the area.
One of the things I like about Vintana is that it feels tucked into a residential neighborhood while still providing relatively easy access to downtown Windsor, Highway 101, shopping, schools, and recreation.
What Are the Homes Like in Vintana?
Homes in Vintana are primarily single-family residences built in the early 2000s.
You’ll find both single-story and two-story homes, with many offering three to five bedrooms, attached garages and manageable suburban lots. Of course, this depends on the street and floor plan.
Architecturally, Vintana has the look and feel of a newer planned neighborhood. Many homes feature open living spaces, primary suites, indoor laundry rooms and attached two- or three-car garages.
For buyers comparing Windsor neighborhoods, Vintana can be particularly appealing if you want a more contemporary floor plan without moving into brand-new construction.
Parks and Walking Trails Are a Big Part of Vintana
One of Vintana’s standout features is access to neighborhood parks and trails.
Old Vineyard Park, located at 8452 Stomper Drive, is a 4.6-acre neighborhood park with a play area and open space.
On the other side of the neighborhood, Starr Creek Park at 481 Decanter Circle offers approximately four acres of open grass, a walking path and outdoor fitness equipment.
Starr Creek is also part of Windsor’s larger trail system. The trail connects through the area toward Keiser Park and ultimately toward the Windsor Town Green. It’s the perfect option for residents looking to safetly run, walk and bike.
If having somewhere to get outside without getting in the car is important to you, that’s a definite feature of this part of Windsor.
You’re Close to the Windsor Town Green
One of the reasons people enjoy living in Windsor is the Town Green.
Downtown Windsor centers around the Town Green, where you’ll find restaurants, coffee, shops and community events throughout the year.
Depending on where you are within Vintana, downtown Windsor is only a short drive or bike ride away.
The Town Green hosts many of Windsor’s community events, including seasonal activities, concerts and the Windsor Farmers Market.
For me, that’s one of Windsor’s biggest advantages: you get a small-town community feel while still having the everyday conveniences you actually need.
Shopping and Everyday Amenities
Vintana is also conveniently positioned for everyday errands.
Windsor has several grocery options, including Oliver’s Market, Raley’s and Safeway, along with pharmacies, fitness facilities, restaurants and other services.
Highway 101 is nearby, making it relatively easy to head south toward Santa Rosa or north toward Healdsburg and the rest of northern Sonoma County.
And, of course, you’re surrounded by Wine Country. Wineries, breweries, farm stands, restaurants, hiking trails and some of Sonoma County’s prettiest back roads are all close by.
Outdoor Recreation Near Vintana
Beyond the neighborhood parks, Windsor has an impressive amount of outdoor recreation.
Keiser Park is another major community park nearby, and Windsor is home to numerous smaller neighborhood parks.
A little farther away, Foothill Regional Park offers more than 200 acres of open space, trails, oak woodlands and ponds.
For buyers relocating from a more urban part of the Bay Area, this is something I always think is worth considering. In Windsor, it’s relatively easy to go from your neighborhood sidewalk to a hiking trail, vineyard road or regional park.
What Should Buyers Know About Vintana?
Like any neighborhood, there are a few things I recommend buyers investigate for themselves.
Homes within the same neighborhood can vary significantly depending on floor plan, lot size, upgrades, condition and location within Vintana.
Buyers should also consider the property’s proximity to nearby roads, schools, parks and the Sonoma County Airport flight path. Aircraft may occasionally be heard in portions of Windsor, so if noise is important to you, visit a home at different times of the day before making a decision.
You should also independently verify school attendance boundaries, HOA information, property-specific restrictions and anything else that’s particularly important to your purchase.
Vintana vs. Vintage Greens
You’ll often hear Vintana and Vintage Greens mentioned together, but they’re neighboring communities rather than exactly the same neighborhood.
Both were largely developed in the early 2000s and offer a more modern suburban feel compared with some of Windsor’s older neighborhoods.
Vintage Greens is closer to Windsor Golf Club, while Vintana is centered around its neighborhood parks, Windsor High School and the Starr Creek trail system.
If you’re considering one, I think it’s worth looking at both. Sometimes the right house ends up determining which side you prefer.
Is Vintana a Good Fit for You?
Vintana is worth considering if you’re looking for a Windsor home with a neighborhood feel, parks and trails nearby, relatively modern construction and convenient access to downtown Windsor and Highway 101.
But choosing a neighborhood in Sonoma County is personal.
Some buyers want acreage and privacy. Others want to walk downtown. Some want an older home with character, while others would much rather have a newer floor plan, attached garage and smaller yard to maintain.
That’s why I always recommend looking at the neighborhood as much as the house.
Looking for a Home in Vintana or Windsor?
I grew up in Sonoma County. Now I have the absolute pleasure of helping buyers and sellers throughout Windsor, Healdsburg, Geyserville, Cloverdale and the surrounding Wine Country.
If you’re thinking about buying a home in Vintana, I can help you compare the neighborhood with other areas of Windsor. I can also help you understand recent comparable sales and figure out which part of Sonoma County makes the most sense for the way you actually want to live.
And if a little more land, a garden, chickens or room for a shop sounds more like you, I can help with that too.
